Three Vitamin Supplements I Don’t Go a Day Without

Three Vitamin Supplements I Don’t Go a Day Without

If I had to bring only three supplements with me to a deserted island for, let’s say, a month, these would be it, as they provide key benefits relating to wide-ranging health functions.

Note that these are supplement recommendations only. Food sources should be the primary source of nutrients, but remember, you’re on a deserted island, competing for coconuts and with no Whole Foods in sight. Put another way: how possible is it to get what your body may need on a daily basis through food  only in today’s society? Also, I have no affiliation with these companies or receive commissions for these recommendations. Lastly, I am not a doctor and prescribing anything. Just sharing what has worked for me.

VITAMIN D

A fat-soluble vitamin produced by the body in response to sun exposure, Vitamin D plays a pivotal role in maintaining overall health. Its benefits are many, and most Americans don’t have adequate levels (the normal “ranges” on bloodwork can even be on the low side, depending on what your lab indicates).

Here are some examples:

·       Bone Health and Muscle Function

·       Immune System Support

·       Cardiovascular Health

·       Mental Health

·       Cancer Prevention

The thing is, unless you walk around with most of your body exposed (i.e. nude) for a couple of hours a day, you are not getting your daily intake. So, supplementation is required.

I found D3K2 ReSet to be best for me.

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in numerous biochemical reactions and also plays a pivotal role in maintaining optimal health. In fact, many of magnesium’s benefits overlap with those of Vitamin D, and, like Vitamin D most Americans are deficient in it.

Here are some examples:

·       Bone Health and Muscle Function

·       Cardiovascular Health

·       Neurotransmitter Regulation and Mental Health

·       Blood Sugar Control and Diabetes Prevention

·       Mitochondrial Function and Energy Production

·       Inflammation Reduction and Immune Function

·       Migraine Prevention

You will immediately notice a difference in taking a magnesium supplement if your body is deficient in it. I personally felt a greater sense of calm in my heart and improved sleep.

Note that there are many different forms of magnesium one can take, from oils placed directly on the skin, to supplements that are from very different sources (glycinate, etc). It took me some experimentation to decide which worked best for me. (some forms of magnesium, for example, can have more of a laxative effect than others).

I found Natural Vitality Calm in capsules to be best for me.

PROBIOTICS

Probiotics are live microorganisms that play a crucial role in maintaining optimal health, particularly gut health. Their benefits extend beyond digestive health, influencing various aspects of human physiology and well-being, including:

·       Gut Microbiota Balance and Digestive Health

·       Improved Nutrient Absorption

·       Strengthened Immune Function

·       Enhanced Mental Health

·       Cardiovascular Health Improvement

·       Metabolic Health and Obesity Prevention

·       Skin Health and Wound Healing

Probiotics are strain-specific (each probiotic strains offers unique health benefits); have different Colony-forming Units (CFUs), with a higher CFU count indicating a more potent probiotic supplement; and unique survivability (i.e. delayed release or enteric-coated) and storage requirements (i.e. refrigeration vs. no refrigeration).

I found Global Healing’s Ultimate Probiotic to be best for me.
